3. If employing staff was part of the business plan we normally discuss how the PAYE system works and identify when withheld tax needed to be paid over to HM Revenue & Customs.
4. We would discuss what can and can’t be claimed as an expense.
5. As HMRC, for the first time, have formed a task force with the brief of inspecting the quality of traders book keeping, imposing fines of up to £3,000 for inadequate record keeping we spend some time discussing how clients can simply and cheaply record their costs and income. Not only ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements but also reducing their tax bill by claiming all permissible costs.
